With Thanksgiving week upon us, we pause to reflect on those for whom we are most grateful. Our students share their appreciation for those who generously sponsor scholarships, thus easing the financial burden so they can concentrate on classes and broaden their horizons through the many extra-curricular opportunities Bradley offers.

A senior accounting major from Peoria says his scholarship helps make Bradley affordable. “Without the proper assistance from grants and other scholarships, we students would dig ourselves deep into financial debt before we even enter the real world, making the first few years of living very difficult. Especially with the way the economy is currently, that would not be desirable. But with the assistance of amazing people like you, college becomes more reasonable for students like me. I could never thank you enough and words could not even explain how much appreciation someone like you should receive.”
A mechanical engineering major from LaSalle appreciates the opportunities his scholarship allows. “Being the first in my family to attend a four-year university, I am very grateful to be able to attend such a great school. After visiting several colleges, Bradley was the one having everything I had desired. Offering a great curriculum, a perfect-size campus, and amazing student body and staff, I knew Bradley was the place for me. With this decision came a large financial burden upon my family. With the help of generous donations, the perfect school had become a reality. Bradley has given me an excellent education. It makes me proud knowing someday hopefully, I can return the favor of generosity that has been given to me.”
A junior elementary education and math major from Pekin is thankful that her scholarship allows her to attend Bradley. “My experience at Bradley University thus far has been nothing short of a great one. Being able to attend this university is an honor and a privilege, and I would not be able to be here if not for scholarships and donors. I know Bradley will make me well-equipped for my future as a teacher. After graduation from Bradley University, I play to find a teaching job in the area until I can get my loans paid off. Eventually, I hope to attend graduate school to get my master’s in administration so that I can fulfill my dream of becoming the principal of an elementary school.”
A student from Des Moines majoring in public relations with minors in photography and French appreciates the opportunities at Bradley. Enrolled in the Global Scholars Program, she studied in Italy last May. She has written for the Scout andis involved in the Photographic Society and other campus organizations. She writes, “I greatly appreciate your generosity because it makes getting an education more affordable for students like myself…I will graduate in May 2010, and afterwards I hope to get a job in the music industry. Eventually, I would like to work as an artist and repertoire agent. I am also interested in music journalism and the booking and running of a music venue. Again, I would like to thank you very much for your generosity. I cannot begin to express how much it is appreciated.”
May you, too, reflect on those for whom you are most grateful. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the Bradley family.
