"The faculty are amazing. They know what they’re talking about, and they use real-life examples. They teach you for life. That’s what I love about Bradley. My education is helping me become the kind of person I want to be. "

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Top-notch students and faculty make Bradley one of the best academic communities in the nation today.

Student Support

Undergraduate student support. The University must increase its available scholarships to compete with other schools for top students. Students should be able to attend Bradley on their ability to perform, not their ability to pay. Scholarships are equally important to attract students from diverse ethnic and geographic backgrounds.

The University must increase its support of students and faculty to compete with
other schools.

Graduate student support. Earning a graduate degree is becoming essential in today’s competitive society. Through a combination of fellowships, stipends, and tuition grants, Bradley can attract and retain graduate students who are integral to Bradley’s academic community.

International study. International study represents collaboration on a global level, and all five colleges offer global learning opportunities. The University would like to enhance its support for students and faculty who wish to pursue greater global understanding and pursue research with an international component.

Faculty Support

Endowed academic chairs and professorships. Faculty are the most important element in providing students with an exceptional learning experience and sustaining our commitment to the quality of a Bradley education. Not only must the University be able to attract exceptional teachers and scholars, we must be able to retain them. A chair or professorship honors a faculty member and supports teaching and research. Each of the colleges would benefit greatly from the recognition and additional resources these endowments provide.

Excellence Funds. Bradley faculty are on the forefront of their fields, and their research enriches the educational experience for their students. Staying current and advancing in one’s academic field often requires special study, equipment, and time. Financial support is also needed to expand opportunities for faculty and students to collaborate on research and present their findings at academic conferences.

Program and operations support are not only necessary,
but are key to Bradley’s continued success.

Program Support

Equipment. Both basic and advanced technology and equipment are necessary to successful teaching. All colleges share a need for equipment replacements and upgrades to keep programs vital and robust.

Centers for Distinction move the University from a good comprehensive university to one of national distinction.

Technology. No tool supports learning and collaborative work more than a well-supported computer system. To keep our students and faculty connected, Bradley must keep up with the latest developments in hardware, software and connectivity.

Centers for Distinction. Universities distinguish themselves by capitalizing on their strengths and developing initiatives that have notable potential to move the University from a good comprehensive university to one of national distinction. Endowed funds for programmatic support will provide operating support for our highly successful academic and co-curricular activities and allow the University to develop high-quality niches. Our new Center for Principled Leadership and Public Service, our nationally recognized entrepreneurship program and speech team, are but a few examples of distinctive programs that add a rich dimension to the curriculum but require funding beyond departmental budgets.

Annual Operations Support

Bradley Fund. Unlike endowment gifts that are invested for the long-term, unrestricted and restricted annual gifts can be used immediately—whenever they are needed most. These essential, flexible gifts provide funding for library resources, campus beautification, intercollegiate athletics, cultural programming, and other needs that make the difference between a good university and an extraordinary one.
